Centenary Softball Dominates NJCU in Game One of Doubleheader

The Centenary Cyclones put on an offensive clinic in game one of their doubleheader against New Jersey City University (NJCU), cruising to an 11-5 victory. The Cyclones' offensive attack was relentless, as they capitalized on a series of timely hits and strong contributions from several players to secure the win.

Leading the charge at the plate were Jessica Burlew and Hailie Giberson, each with 3 hits on the day. Their efforts helped set the tone early and often, as Centenary wasted no time establishing their offensive dominance. But the Cyclones' lineup was deep, with every batter getting in on the action. Bobbi Jones, Jaelynn Miller, Madison Passanante, Carolyn Rosenberg, D'Ani Morales, and even Jayden Pennella—who made her return to the lineup—also contributed hits to the Cyclones' cause.

Bobbi Jones and D'Ani Morales were especially productive, each driving in 2 runs to help give Centenary an edge. In addition to her 2 RBIs, Jones had a standout performance in the field as well, playing an instrumental role in the Cyclones' overall success. Not to be outdone, both Morales and Pennella delivered timely hits with 2 RBIs apiece. Pennella, in particular, made a triumphant return and making her mark by producing an impressive triple in her offensive showing.

Jaelynn Miller and Madison Passanante also added to the RBI tally, contributing 1 RBI each to the team's total.

On the mound, the Cyclones were equally impressive. Jaelynn Miller started the game and delivered a solid 4-inning performance, allowing only 1 earned run and striking out 1 batter. Miller's effort was key in keeping NJCU's offense in check and providing the Cyclones with a comfortable lead. Sierra Stultz relieved Miller in the 5th inning and continued to hold the line, pitching 3 innings and allowing 4 runs while striking out 1.

Centenary's 11-5 victory was a well-rounded team effort, showcasing a potent offense, solid pitching, and timely defense. As the Cyclones continue their season, this impressive win over NJCU serves as a testament to their depth and all-around ability to perform in key moments.

With contributions from throughout the lineup and a strong outing from their pitching staff, Centenary will look to keep the momentum rolling as they move forward in their doubleheader and beyond.
