The Centenary University Cyclones put up a strong effort but ultimately fell short against Marywood University in a hard-fought Atlantic East Conference Quarterfinals at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center. The game, played in front of 250 spectators, saw Centenary take an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 22-16. However, Marywood responded in the second quarter, matching the Cyclones' 18 points to keep the game close at halftime.
Leading the charge for Centenary was
Jasmine Sampong, who tallied an impressive 18 points while also grabbing seven rebounds and recording three steals. She was supported by
Vatijah Davis, who contributed 17 points and four steals, while
Sofia Mendez added 11 points and six rebounds. The Cyclones capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 16 points off offensive rebounds, but struggled from the free-throw line, hitting just 13 of their 22 attempts.
Despite maintaining a slim lead through three quarters, Centenary was unable to hold off a late surge from Marywood, who outscored them 26-18 in the final period. Marywood's efficiency at the free-throw line proved to be a difference-maker, as they converted 24 of 29 attempts.
