In a thriller that stretched across three overtimes and featured 38 lead changes and 16 ties, the Centenary University Cyclones came up just short Wednesday night, falling 106–99 to King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The matchup had all the drama of a postseason clash, with both teams trading punches for 55 grueling minutes before the Monarchs finally pulled away in the closing seconds.
Centenary was powered by a dominant performance from junior guard Kenneth Rankin, who poured in 35 points on 15-of-26 shooting while adding nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Jasir Lane was a force on the glass, grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds to go with 10 points, while Devin Strickland added 15 points off the bench, Roman Carone also gave the Cyclones a huge spark off the bench adding 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and 5 rebounds to keep the Cyclones competitive during key stretches. The Cyclones controlled the paint with 64 points inside and 20 fast-break points, often turning defensive rebounds into quick scoring chances.
Despite the loss, the Cyclones showed remarkable resilience. They overcame multiple second-half deficits, forced overtime twice with strong defensive stands, and repeatedly found late buckets from Rankin to extend the contest. Their 54 total rebounds and balanced scoring highlighted a team unwilling to fold on the road.
Centenary (2–4) will look to build on the grit and effort from this marathon matchup as they return home on Saturday vs Sarah Lawrence seeking to turn competitive performances into wins. It wasn't the result the Cyclones wanted, but the heart they showed in Wilkes-Barre was undeniable.
