Centenary Men's Basketball Dominates Medgar Evers on Alumni Day

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — On a packed Alumni Day at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center, the Centenary University men's basketball team delivered a commanding performance, rolling past Medgar Evers College 86–39 in a showcase of defensive pressure, fast breaks, and deep scoring balance.

With alumni filling the stands in support, the Cyclones wasted no time giving fans something to cheer about. Centenary opened the game on a relentless run, forcing turnovers and pushing the pace in transition. The Cyclones held Medgar Evers to just 13 first-half points, establishing a 41–13 lead at the break thanks to aggressive defense and strong rebounding on both ends.

Centenary's depth told the story of the day. The Cyclones racked up 58 bench points, as the entire roster contributed to the offensive explosion. Ten different players scored at least four points, and the team shot a solid 43 percent from the floor while knocking down nine three-pointers.

Senior wing Daniel Falk was the leading scorer for the Cyclones with 11 points, while sophmore's Avery Cannato, Kenny Maira, Domenic Raymond and Junior Hans all chipped in. Kenneth Rankin and Darnelle Forrest provided high-energy play, combining for 18 points and several fast-break sparks. Forrest's two second-half threes electrified the gym, pushing the lead to over 30.

Defensively, the Cyclones overwhelmed the Cougars, forcing 34 turnovers, including 21 steals, and capitalizing with 38 points off turnovers. Centenary also dominated the paint with 48 points inside and 27 fast-break points, running away with the game in transition and never allowing Medgar Evers to find a rhythm.

With the dominating performance the Cyclones improve to 2-2 on the season, with momentum clearly building as they take on Cairn Tuesday on the road.
