HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Centenary Men's Basketball showed flashes of energy throughout their home opener on Friday night, but a blistering second-half performance from Scranton University proved too much to overcome, as the Cyclones fell 85–61 at Reeves Gymnasium.
Centenary hung tough early, stringing together stretches of solid defense and timely scoring to keep the game within reach. But after halftime, the visiting Royals caught fire, shooting an eye-popping 70% from the field in the second half, to pull away and secure the victory.
Despite the loss, the Cyclones had bright spots.
Jasir Lane delivered a strong all-around performance, leading the team with 11 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. His effort on both ends helped steady Centenary during several key runs.
The Cyclones will look to regroup and build on their early-season growth as they prepare for their next matchup.
