Hackettstown, NJ: The Cyclones held their annual end of the year ceremony this past Sunday, April 21st. During the ceremony, we were able to recognize and appreciate all of the hard work of all our student athletes, as well as recognize their academic success throughout the year.
Rookie of the Year
Awarded to an athlete that made an impact for their team, in their first year of eligibility. This athlete successfully transitioned from high school to the collegiate level and has been a key component to the success of their respective team.

Vatijah Davis (Female) - Women's Basketball;
Joseph Frei (Male) - Baseball
Sam Bombardiere Award
Named to honor Centenary Alum Sam Bombardiere. Sam was a four year member of the Cyclones Soccer team where she was a standout defender on a very successful team. Throughout Bombardiere's time at Centenary, she overcame hardship after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer and receiving a surgery. After being sidelined during the 2016 season, Sam made the ultimate comeback to return during the Fall 2017 season.

Athlete of the Year
The Athlete of the year award goes to the athlete who was a crucial part of their team. This student-athlete made an immediate impact and was a critical factor in their team's success, crowning them as the 2023-24 Athlete of the year.

Danny Haws (Male) - Wrestling
Steve Somers Spirit Award
The Steve Somers Spirit Award. This award will be given to the team in our athletic department that displayed immense amounts of spirit for the Cyclones Athletics. This team made their presence known at each home event they attended.

Assistant Coach of the Year
Presented to an assistant coach that goes the extra mile for his or her coaching staff, but most importantly the student athletes.

Jeanne Murphy Service Award
The Jeanne Murphy Service Award honors the life of Jeanne Murphy. Mrs. Murphy served her country, community, and this University with vigor, never asking for anything in return. The recipients of this award stepped up for the athletic department. They worked long hours in the early mornings, late nights, and often in harsh weather. They received no compensation and asked for nothing in return. They truly represent the spirit of this award.

Cardy Gemma Award
The Cardy Gemma Award is named after Centenary's first Athletic Director and is awarded to an athlete that has completed their final year of eligibility. These athletes have set the standard in the classroom, in their sport and have been involved in the community throughout their time at Centenary University.
