Stroudsburg, PA: The Cyclones opened up their season with a second place finish at the East Stroudsburg Open. The Clones finished the day with eight wrestlers on the podium.
On the Mat
133 - Sophomore Danny Haws went 4-0 on the day coming away with a first place finish. Haws had two falls, one coming in the final bout.
141 - Senior Xavier Pena finished in first place with a 5-0 record. Pena finished off the day with five falls.
165 - Senior TJ Pawlicki finished in second place going 2-1 on the day with both wins coming by fall.
Sophomore Mark Venson Jr. came away with a third place finish after going 2-1. Venson pulled out a 4-3 decision in the third place bout.
184 - Freshman Hunter Cleaver finished in second place (2-1) in his first matches as a Cyclone.
Junior Angelo Piazza finished the day with a third place finish going 2-1. Both wins come by decisions.
197 - Senior Keevon Berry went 3-1 on the day to finish with a second place finish. Two of the three wins come by fall.
285 - Freshman Arik Hums went 3-1 in his first collegiate matches to pull away with a fifth place finish. Hums final bout was against fellow Freshman Nathan Salazar.
