Andrew Tarkazikis made four saves to lead the Centenary University men's soccer team to a 0-0 tie with William Paterson on day two of the Tony Ochrimenko Classic hosted by Kean.
"Literally with both teams playing their second game in two days, it was a stalemate," said
Josh Spivack. "We had a couple of decent chances in the first half but give credit to our entire backline who put forth a good defensive effort and limited their chances."
Tarkazikis was tested early on with two saves in the first 20 minutes of the contest.
Thomas Edge and
Matt Paterno each put a shot off the crossbar and
Besnik Hadzovic forced the William Paterson keeper to make a save in the first 45 minutes of action.
The two teams headed into the half knotted at 0-0.
The Cyclones and Pioneers continued to battle to start the second half.
Kevin Lopez rocketed off a shot in the 69th minute but the Pioneers' keeper was able to make the save.
Tarkazikis picked up a big save in the 87th minute to keep William Paterson off the board and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Tarkazikis earned his third career shutout as a Cyclone with his four save performance.
Maksym Bukachevsky had two saves for William Paterson.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they travel to King's (Pa.) for a 4 p.m. game.
