HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. –
Brian Osorio's penalty kick goal with 47.5 seconds to play lifted the Centenary University men's soccer team into a 1-1 tie with Clarks Summit University on Tuesday afternoon.
It was Clarks Summit striking first in this one as
Evan Michel collected a ball in the midfield and played a pass out towards the bench side of the field.
Trevor Lawson collected the ball and fired home a low shot for the 1-0 lead at the 14:01 mark.
Both teams had their chances following that tally, but
Andrew Tarkazikis had a pair of saves for the Cyclones and the home team was unable to connect on a handful of shots.
Clarks Summit carried the 1-0 advantage into the half.
Centenary forced Clarks Summit keeper
Liam Hungate to make three saves in the first 20 minutes of the second half and he responded as the Defenders held the lead.
The two teams continued to battle until the final minute of play. Clarks Summit was called for a foul in the box which set the stage for the penalty kick. Osorio delivered a goal with a low shot in the right-hand side of the box.
That goal snapped a scoreless streak of over 200 minutes for the Cyclones and allowed the game to end in a 1-1 tie.
Tarkazikis made five saves for the Cyclones in the tie. Hungate finished with six saves for the Defenders.
Centenary is right back in action as the Cyclones host Purchase on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m.
