HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – A trip to the prestigious NWCA National Duals highlights the 2021-22 Centenary University wrestling schedule released by head coach
John Garriques.
"We are looking forward to getting back on the mats as it's been a long time since some of these young men have been able to compete," said Garriques. "We return a lot of talent, along with five seniors. Our recruiting efforts paid off, as we brought in a large group of talented wrestlers who are excited to compete. I'm very excited to see what this season holds for us, as I'm optimistic in how far we can climb that NCAA National ladder."
The 2021-22 wrestling campaign kicks off as always with the Public Eliminations, as the Cyclones wrestle off to see who will earn the start at each weight class. This year's Public Eliminations will happen on Friday, Nov. 5.
The regular season officially gets underway on Sunday, Nov. 7 as the Cyclones travel to the East Stroudsburg Open. The Cyclones will host Rowan College of South Jersey in a scrimmage on Nov. 12. The current Rowan South Jersey head coach is Centenary alum,
Alex Reeves. Another Centenary alum,
Chris Burdge brings his squad to Reeves gym as the Cyclones host Sussex on Nov. 13.Â
Tournament action continues on Saturday, Nov. 20 as Centenary heads to the Springfield Invitational.
December will see the Cyclones host the annual Bob Quade Cyclone Open on Sunday, Dec. 5.
The 2022 portion of the schedule kicks off with a trip to the prestigious NWCA National Duals at the Kentucky Expo Center.
Centenary returns home to host a pair of dual meets on Saturday, Jan. 22 against Hunter and Tuesday, Jan. 25 versus Scranton. The Cyclones will also wrestle Union CC on January 28
th.
February kicks off with a trip to Delaware Valley on Thursday, Feb. 3 and continues with a visit to Penn College on Saturday, Feb. 5.
A long-time rivalry is renewed as the Cyclones travel to TCNJ on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Centenary closes out the regular season with a visit to King's on Feb. 11.
Centenary takes part in the NCAA Regionals on Feb. 26 and 27.
Any Cyclones that finish in the top three of their weight class at Regionals will advance to the NCAA National Championship meet taking place March 11-12.
