HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore
Victoria Jacobs scored a team-high 15 points, but it was not enough as the Centenary University women's basketball team fell to Clarks Summit University by a 61-49 score in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play on Wednesday night.
Five straight points from Jacobs helped the Cyclones jump out to a 6-3 lead with 5:16 remaining in the first period.

Taylor Bossert at 4:25 extended the home team advantage to 8-5.
Clarks Summit closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run and took a 14-10 lead.
Candace Winkel scored five points during that stretch.
Centenary scored six of the first 10 points in the second quarter and cut the Clarks Summit advantage to one point, 18-17. Sophomore
Jessica McKenzie tallied four points in that stretch for the Cyclones.
The Defenders closed the second quarter on an 11-4 run and took a 29-21 lead at the half.
Elizabeth Singleton scored seven points during that scoring spurt.
A 5-2 run by the Cyclones to start the third quarter made it a 31-26 games. That scoring spurt was capped by a bucket from freshman
Kayla Burnett at 6:25.
The two teams traded points as a Winkel three-pointer at 3:53 gave Clarks Summit a 40-30 advantage.
A pair of late free throws from Singleton gave the Defenders a 44-34 lead after three periods of play.
Clarks Summit opened the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run and took a 53-36 lead with 5:08 to play. Singleton scored four points during that stretch.
The Cyclones scored eight straight points and cut the Clarks Summit lead to 53-44 with 3:40 to play. Centenary was a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line in that stretch.
Clarks Summit pushed its lead back to 12, 58-46 with 1:17 to play.
A three-point play from freshman
Carmen Escano made it a 58-49 game with 1:03 to go.
A three-pointer from Winkel in the final 40 seconds closed out a 61-49 win for Clarks Summit.
Clarks Summit shot 40 percent from the field in the game and connected on eight three-pointers. Centenary shot 31.6 percent from the field and was 13-for-19 from the foul line. Clarks Summit won the rebounding battle, 43-34.
Jacobs added six rebounds to go with her 15 points for the Cyclones. Bossert added eight points and three steals while Escano finished with seven points and six rebounds.
Singleton led Clarks Summit with 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals while Winkel had 20 points.
The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 8 when they travel to Cedar Crest for a 1 p.m. game.
