Anderson Moves to No. 1 in the Nation in the Rankings

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – After taking down the top ranked wrestler in the country at 149-pounds in the last regular season meet, Centenary University freshman Ryan Anderson has vaulted to the top of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings at 149-pounds.

Anderson, who had been ranked No. 7 in his weight class before taking down then No. 1 Brett Kaliner of Stevens, becomes the second Cyclone wrestler to reach the top of the rankings in the last two years (Etiini Udott – last season).

Anderson, will carry a 26-3 record into the NCAA Mideast Regional this weekend. He has 13 wins by fall this season and has not lost a bout since Nov. 10 at the East Stroudsburg Open.

He won his weight class at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield, the Bob Quade Cyclone Open and the Shorty Hitchcock Tournament hosted by Millersville. Anderson also finished fifth at the East Stroudsburg Open.

Anderson and the Cyclones are back in action this weekend as they travel to NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by Ithaca College. The action begins Saturday, Feb. 29.
