HOBOKEN, N.J. – Freshman Ryan Anderson beat the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the country at 149-pounds to highlight the action for the Centenary University wrestling team in a hard-fought 23-21 loss at No. 8 Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday night.

The Cyclones, who won five weight classes, wrapped up the regular season with Friday night's action. It was an extremely challenging regular season dual schedule for the Cyclones who faced three Division III teams ranked in the top 20 (No. 16 NYU, No. 6 TCNJ and No. 8 Stevens) along with a pair of Division I opponents (Rutgers and LIU) and one of the top Division II teams in Pitt-Johnstown.

Anderson, who is ranked No. 7 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), battled hard for a 3-2 decision over No. 1 Brett Kaliner at 149-pounds. Anderson, who earned his 26th win of the season, had the answer when Kaliner went for the takedown several times. It was Kaliner's first Division III loss of the season.

Junior Dylan Luciano started the match strong for the Cyclones at 125-pounds. Luciano secured his 14th win of the season by a 20-2 tech fall over Akhil Vega.

Senior Alec Donovan contributed a major decision (13-1) win at 174-pounds as he took care of Nico Ziccardi.

Junior Kenny Long picked up his 17th win of the season with a major decision victory at 184-pounds. Long defeated Robert Gennat, 14-5.

Freshman Jayvon Davidson secured a win by forfeit at 285-pounds.

All five of the wins that Stevens recorded in the match came via ranked wrestlers. No. 9 Kyle Slendorn earned a win by decision versus sophomore Jacy Jones. Stevens got two wins by fall, including one from No. 1 Troy Stanich at 141-pounds. The Ducks also got two wins by major decision.

In exhibition action, seniors Michael Foca and Bobby Demeter each picked up wins. Foca's win came via a 5-2 decision at 149-pounds. Demeter picked up a 12-2 major decision at 133-pounds.

The Cyclones are back in action on Feb. 29-March 1 when they travel to the NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by Ithaca.
