Anderson Wins 149-Pound Weight Bracket at Shorty Hitchcock Tournament

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Ryan Anderson won the 149-pound weight class to lead the Centenary University wrestling team against a talented field at the Shorty Hitchcock Tournament hosted by Millersville University on Saturday.

Anderson won his third tournament title of the season (Doug Parker Invitational, Bob Quade Cyclone Open, Shorty Hitchcock Tournament) after going 5-0 on Saturday.

Anderson started his day with a 4-2 decision against Val Park of Navy. He followed that up with a 10-1 major decision over Devin Woodworth from the Naval Academy Prep School. Anderson then recorded a forfeit win over Luke Gardner of Penn State. In the semifinals he registered a tech fall, 19-0, while taking on Matt Ryan of St. Benedicts. Anderson wrapped up his day with an 8-3 decision over Morgan Fuenffinger of Navy.

Anderson now sports a 21-3 record on the season.

Senior Michael Foca registered a pair of wins at 149-pounds on the day. He started his action with a 4-3 decision versus Tony Locke of Greensboro College. Foca also registered a 6-0 decision while taking on Dmytro Lakusta from Spartanburg Methodist.

Junior Kenny Long had a pair of wins in four matches at 184-pounds on Saturday. Long's first victory of the day came via a 14-4 major decision over Kyle Myers of West Virginia. He also posted a 10-2 major decision against Colin Fegley of Lock Haven.'

Sophomore Jacy Jones picked up a pair of wins at 133-pounds for the Cyclones. He recorded a fall in 1:56 over Mitch Paton of Greensboro. Jones also posted a fall in 5:35 while taking on Thomas Fiero of St. Benedicts.

The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 18 when they host the U.S. Merchant Marines Academy at 6 p.m.
