MADISON, N.J. – Junior
Tom Parry scored for the second straight day but it was not enough as the Centenary University men's soccer team fell to Stockton in the consolation game of the Drew Fall Festival on Saturday.
Stockton jumped out to a 4-1 halftime advantage en route to the 6-1 victory.
The Ospreys took a 2-0 lead in the first 11 minutes on goals from
Michael Echeverria and
Max Bond.
Stockton extended its advantage to 4-0 on goals scored by
Drew Ruble and
Brendan Deal.
The Cyclones got on the board just before the half as Parry headed home a pass from sophomore
Jahn Lopez.
Stockton held the 4-1 lead at the half after taking eight of the game's first 13 shots.
The Ospreys tacked on two more goals in the second half and claimed the 6-1 victory.
Dino Gromitsaris started the game for Stockton and made two saves before giving way to
Travis Yates, who was not forced to make a save in the final 17:32. Sophomore
Will Hodic earned the start for the Cyclones and made six saves. Fellow sophomore
Paul LiTrenta played the last 21:35 of the game and had one save for Centenary.
Stockton finished the game with an 18-8 advantage in shots while the Cyclones earned two of the game's three corner kicks.
The Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 as they travel to Moravian for a 4 p.m. contest.
