HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore
Jerome Beyer Jr. shot a 78 to lead the Centenary University golf team to a win over Wilson College in the Cyclones' season opener on Saturday.
Beyer Jr. and the Cyclones posted a 366 to Wilson's 402 and presented head coach
Jim Rocco with a win in his first match leading Centenary.
"I'm proud of the boys and I thought they played well today," said Rocco.
Beyer Jr.'s 78 was the best round shot by a Cyclone since
Steve Kluemper shot a 78 during the fall of 2014.
Senior
Tyler Bowman shot the next best round by a Cyclone as he carded a 90. Sophomore
Jonathan Westfall shot a 91 while senior
Joe Lentine carded a 107.
Oliver Perry posted the best round for the Phoenix as he finished with an 88.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Thursday, April 11 when they travel to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to take part in the Wilson College Swing into Spring. Centenary will go up against Wilson, Valley Forge and Immaculata.
