HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior
Jess Petty registered her first career hat trick to lead the Centenary University women's lacrosse team in a 9-7 loss to Rosemont College on Tuesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
The Cyclones struck for an early lead in this one as senior
Nicole Soriero snuck one past the Ravens' keeper at 28:06. Centenary pushed its lead to 2-0 as junior
Kaylee Bennett scored off a nice feed from freshman
Madison Barofski at 22:06.
Rosemont responded with three straight goals and took a 3-2 lead with 19:43 showing on the clock.
Maciana Mazzeo tallied the first of her three goals on the day during that run.
Petty scored her first of the day at 11:24 and the game was tied at 3-3.
Centenary took a 4-3 lead as Soriero scored her second of the day with 1:45 to go in the period.

Lauren Lightcap goal just before the half tied the game at 4-4.
Rosemont had the hot hand to start the second half as the visitors scored four goals in the first 10 minutes of the period and took an 8-4 advantage with 20:39 to play in the game. Mazzeo completed her hat trick during that stretch.
The Cyclones broke up the Ravens' run as sophomore
Sydney D'Ortone picked up a ground ball on the defensive end and showcased her speed as she took it all the way down the field and scored. That goal pulled the Cyclones to within three, 8-5 with 17:49 to play.
Lightcap scored her second of the day and pushed the Rosemont lead back to four, 9-5 with 17:04 showing on the clock.
Petty's second of the day at 7:10 pulled the Cyclones to within three, 9-6. Bennett picked up the helper on Petty's tally.
Petty completed her hat trick with a goal with 22 seconds to go in the game. The Cyclones won the ensuing draw but could not get another shot off as Rosemont claimed the 9-7 win.
Isabel Acosta made four saves to earn the win in goal for the Ravens. Senior
Renee Hack had 17 saves in the loss for the Cyclones.
Mazzeo led Rosemont with three goals, eight ground balls and nine draw controls in the game.
Petty added two ground balls to go with her three goals for the Cyclones. Soriero finished with two goals, four ground balls and four draw controls while Bennett finished with a goal, an assist, three ground balls and four caused turnovers. Junior
Cailin O'Hara contributed four ground balls and four caused turnovers for the defense.
Centenary is back in action as the Cyclones visit Bryn Athyn on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
