Team Effort Leads Men's Soccer to a 5-0 Win at Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. – Sophomore Will Hodic made nine saves to lead the Centenary University men's soccer team to a 5-0 win at Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play. Eight different players recorded at least one point in the win for the Cyclones.

"This was a good result for the team," said head coach Josh Spivack. "It is always difficult coming to Rosemont for a CSAC game, but the team really took the challenge and pulled through."

The Cyclones jumped out to an early lead in this one as junior Tom Parry scored off a pass from sophomore Kenneth Pinedo at 11:09.

Pinedo scored his second goal in as many games and pushed the Centenary advantage to 2-0 at 14:16. Fellow sophomore Jahn Lopez picked up the assist on Pinedo's goal.

Sophomore Shane Wilson gave the Cyclones a 3-0 lead with his goal at 36:11.

Hodic made six big stops in the first half to help the Cyclones maintain that 3-0 advantage at the break.

Senior Matt Miller gave the Cyclones a 4-0 advantage as he scored off a pass from freshman Luke Wawrin at 47:42.

The two teams continued to battle before the Cyclones tacked on a late goal in the 83rd minute. Freshman Peter Diaz struck for his first career goal off a pass from fellow freshman Juan Restrepo.

Hodic made three second half stops in the cage as the Cyclones claimed the 5-0 road win.

Hodic made nine stops in the game to record his first career shutout and the Cyclones' first shutout of the season. Grant Gonzalez made nine saves in the loss for Rosemont.

The Cyclones held a 21-12 advantage in shots while Rosemont recorded five of the game's eight corner kicks.

Pinedo had a three-point game to lead the Cyclones.

Centenary is back in action for a non-conference contest as it hosts Rutgers Newark on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.
