HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore
Besnik Hadzovic scored his second goal of the season to lead the Centenary University men's soccer team in a 7-1 loss to Rutgers Newark on Wednesday afternoon.
The Scarlet Raiders took a quick 2-0 lead as
Miguel Sencion scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
A pair of
Dino Branco goals pushed the Rutgers Newark advantage to 4-0 at 31:06.
Adonis Scotland gave the visitors a 5-0 lead with his goal at 38:02.
Centenary got on the board at 39:43 as freshman
Luke Wawrin played a ball into the box and Hadzovic was able to punch it home.
Rutgers Newark carried that 5-1 advantage into the halftime break.
A pair of
Ahmed Moadwad goals in the second half sealed a 7-1 win for Rutgers Newark.
Andres Medina started the game and made three saves en route to the win in goal.
Christian Anrach made two saves in relief work. Sophomore
Will Hodic started the game and made five saves for the Cyclones. Fellow sophomore
Paul LiTrenta made seven saves while playing the second half.
The Cyclones resume Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play this weekend when they host Clarks Summit on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.
