Parry Scores Two to Help Men's Soccer Defeat Clarks Summit, 2-1

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Junior Tom Parry scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Centenary University men's soccer team to a 2-1 come from behind win over Clarks Summit University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

"We knew Clarks Summit was going to be dangerous on set plays and we gave them one in the second half that they capitalized on it," said head coach Josh Spivack. "Our guys stuck to task and finally broke through to make it 1-1. In the very end sophomore Shane Wilson ran down a loose ball, crossed it to Tom Parry and it paid off."

Both teams had their chances in the first half, but neither was able to capitalize. The Cyclones forced Clarks Summit keeper Liam Hungate to make five saves in a 0-0 period.

Clarks Summit got on the board first as Caleb Holloman scored at the 56:08 mark.

Centenary got the equalizer in the 68th minute as Wilson chased down a loose ball on the far sideline and crossed it into the box where Parry knocked it home.

The two teams continued to battle until the 86:42 mark as play seemed to repeat itself as Wilson ran a long ball down the sideline and found Parry in the box for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

"I think those two (Wilson and Parry) are coming together very well," said Spivack. "They are taking it from training to the game and finding and understanding each other."

The Cyclones held onto that one goal advantage until time ran out and claimed the 2-1 win.

Sophomore Paul LiTrenta made two saves to earn the win in goal for the Cyclones. Hungate finished with eight saves for the Defenders in the loss.

The Cyclones are off until Saturday, Oct. 19 as they travel to Wilson for a 2 p.m. game.
