Seven Goal Outburst Leads Men's Soccer to 7-5 Win at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Junior Tom Parry and sophomore Besnik Hadzovic each scored a pair of goals to lead the Centenary University men's soccer team to a 7-5 win at Wilson College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play on Saturday afternoon.

"It was great to get many players involved in the scoring today," said head coach Josh Spivack. "Putting seven goals away in a match is never easy, but we were able to and survived the match."

The Cyclones jumped out to an early advantage with three goals in the first 21 minutes of the contest.

Parry scored off a pass from sophomore Jahn Lopez at 2:51 and Hadzovic struck for his first of the day off a pass from Lopez at 16:25.

Lopez scored his own tally off a pass from Parry at 20:30 as the visitors took a 3-0 advantage.

Wilson broke up the scoring run with a goal at 29:15.

However, the Cyclones were not done as freshman Juan Restrepo struck for a goal at 38:15.

Centenary took the 4-1 advantage into the halftime break.

Wilson scored the first two goals of the second half and cut the Cyclone advantage to 4-3 at the 52:11 mark.

Hadzovic and Parry each struck for their second goal of the day in a two-minute span and pushed the Centenary lead to 6-3.

Wilson scored a goal on a penalty kick at 70:05 which made it a 6-4 game.

Centenary tacked on one more goal at 76:07 as sophomore goalkeeper Will Hodic went to punt the ball down the field and it found its way into the back of the net.

Wilson found the back of the net one more time and made it a 7-5 final.

In addition to his goal, Hodic made four saves in goal to earn the win in goal. Andrew Hetzer made nine saves in the loss.

Parry led the Cyclones with five points on two goals and one assist while Lopez contributed five points on a goal and three assists. Hadzovic also had four points on the two goals.

The Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when they travel to Cairn for a 3 p.m. game. It will be a battle for the top spot in the CSAC standings as both teams enter the game with perfect 4-0 records.
