HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Freshman
Jahn Lopez scored his first career goal as the Centenary University men's soccer team fell to Moravian College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds converted a penalty kick in each half and held off a late charge by the Cyclones for the win.
Ethan Blakely gave Moravian an early lead as he scored on a penalty kick at 24:49. The Greyhounds carried that 1-0 advantage into the half despite the Cyclones holding a 6-4 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes.
Moravian pushed its lead to 2-0 as
Andrew Goodolf scored on a penalty kick at 52:06 of the second half.
The Cyclones got on the board at 73:20 as freshman
Sebastian Montoya fed a ball into the middle and it was knocked home by Lopez. Centenary continued to press the ball on offense but was unable to find the back of the net for the equalizer as Moravian claimed the 2-1 win.
Michael Bone made two saves to earn the win in goal for the Greyhounds. Senior
Devon Warne made three saves in the loss for the Cyclones.
Centenary held a 13-12 edge in shots and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 8 as they host Muhlenberg at 4 p.m.
