CLINTON, N.Y. – The Centenary University men's basketball team made a second half charge but Morrisville State College held off the Cyclones for a 65-56 win to close out the Hamilton College Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams went back-and-forth early and found themselves tied at 8-8 following a jumper from sophomore
Larry Joseph at 15:31. Morrisville State responded with an 9-2 run and took a 17-10 advantage with 12:56 left in the half.
Five straight points from sophomore
Chris LaBelle pulled the Cyclones to within two, 17-15 with 10:41 left in the period. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch. Morrisville State scored the final seven points of the half and took a 37-26 lead at the half.
A three-pointer from
Tyrin Miller pushed the Morrisville State lead to 44-28 with 15:02 to play in the game. The two teams continued to battle and traded points on each end of the court.
Trailing 48-33 with 11:43 to play, Centenary used a 22-3 run to take a 55-51 lead with 4:26 to go in the game. Senior

Divine Anderson each contributed six points during that big scoring stretch.
Morrisville State responded by scoring 15 of the final 16 points in the game to secure the 65-56 win. Miller knocked down seven points during that stretch.
Morrisville State shot 39.6 percent from the field and went 21-for-30 from the foul line. Centenary shot 34.5 percent from the floor and was 10-for-19 from the charity stripe. Morrisville State held a 49-30 advantage in the rebounding battle.
LaBelle paced the Cyclones with a season-high 17 points and three assists while Weiler had 10 points and seven rebounds. Joseph added eight points and seven rebounds for the Cyclones.
Kevin Dennis led Morrisville State with 18 points and 18 rebounds while Miller added 12 points.
The Cyclones will be back in action when they host Brooklyn College on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
