EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Stanley Wojdylak finished fifth at 149 pounds to highlight a strong showing by the Centenary University wrestling team at the East Stroudsburg Open on Saturday.
Wojdylak fell in his first bout of the day but bounced back to post three straight pins. One of his pins came in just 1:09 against
Evan Vandzura of Rowan-Gloucester. He also recorded a major decision over
Michael Cusick of Kutztown, 12-3.
Junior
Michael Foca finished sixth at 141 pounds for the Cyclones.
Jamar Williams of Maryland slipped past Foca in his first match of the day but Focca bounced back with victories in four of his final five matches.
Freshman
Logan Long went 2-2 at 149 pounds as he recorded a pair of wins by fall. Long took down
Nick Klinger of Kutztown in 3:36 and
Nezzar Dimes from Middlesex Community College in 2:50.
Freshman
Justin Hopman also picked up a pair of wins in four matches at 184 pounds. Hopman earned a 10-3 decision over
Ronnie Simmons from ESU and a pin over
Anthony Emig of Kutztown in 3:51.
Senior
Jordan Juliano went 2-2 at 174 pounds for the Cyclones. He earned a major decision by a 16-6 score over
John Ciaramella of Rutgers. Juliano also posted a 10-8 decision against
Colin Shannon of American.
Freshman
Jacy Jones earned a pair of victories in his four matches at 125 pounds. He recorded a 10-2 major decision versus
Connor Mullarkey of Rider. Jones also recorded an 11-5 decision against
Sean Foley of Rider.
Senior
Christopher Muce posted a pair of wins at 157 pounds for the Cyclones. Muce got a fall in 1:13 against
Jordan Cottrell of Rowan Gloucester. He also posted a tech fall against teammate
Jeremy Parkhurst.
The Cyclones will be back on the mats as they travel to the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m.
