Kevin Sensale (Bartonsville, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) went 2-for-4 with two RBI's as the Centenary University baseball team dropped the series finale to Immaculata University, 18-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
Matt Simon went 4-for-6 with five RBI's and two runs scored for the Mighty Macs who improve to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Junior
Tim Maxwell (Glen Head, N.Y. / North Shore) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Cyclones who fall to 1-11 overall and 0-3 in the CSAC.
The Macs exploded for 18 runs on 17 hits, including 11 runs in the final two innings. Immaculata collected at least one run in seven of the nine innings, while Centenary scattered nine hits on four runs in the loss.
Immaculata held a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the third, when Centenary crossed the dish with three runs on just two hits. Maxwell drove in the first run of the afternoon, when sophomore
Ryan Jasiecki (Ledgewood, N.J. / Roxbury) scored after reaching first on a walk and then advanced to third on a fielder's choice for freshman
Jon Fleck (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional). Centenary then evened the contest at 3-3, when Sensale smacked an RBI double to bring home both Fleck and Maxwell.
The Mighty Macs responded by putting two runs back on the board in the fourth. The Cyclones scored their final run of the afternoon in the bottom of fourth, when Jasiecki drove in sophomore
Chase Koffel (Perkiomenville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) who led off the inning with a double down the left field line. The Macs pulled away after that with 13 runs in the final four innings.
Tyler Sassaman only allowed one earned run in 5.1 innings pitched in the victory for Immaculata. Sophomore
Casey Brown (Easton, Pa. / Easton Area) struck out three batters in 5.2 innings pitched in the loss for Centenary. Senior
