Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Improves Winning Streak to Four Games with Victory over Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2017)- Senior Justin White (Minehill, N.J. / Dover) totaled five points on two goals and one assist as the Centenary University men's soccer team stretched their winning streak to four games with a 3-1 victory over Immaculata University on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Richy Castro (Landing, N.J. / Roxbury) tallied two points on a goal as the Cyclones improve to 4-4-1 overall and remain unbeaten in the Colonial States Athletic Conference at 3-0. Alex Noel netted a goal for the Mighty Macs who fall to 3-7-1 overall and 1-2 in the CSAC.

The Cyclones didn't waste time lighting up the scoreboard, as Castro scored off a White assist in the fourth minute. An initial shot by White, which was stopped by the Macs keeper, bounced back to the senior and he tapped the ball to his fellow classmate for the 1-0 lead.

White continued his streak of goal scoring, notching his fifth goal in the last five contests with a score in the 36th minute. He received a touch pass, took two dribbles and ripped a shot from 35 yards out that curved in near the far post. Centenary took a commanding 2-0 lead into the locker room.

The second half saw the Clones continue to fire shot after shot, but couldn't find the back of the net. White would give Centenary a 3-0 lead in the 79th minute, when he converted on his second penalty kick of the season.

The Mighty Macs kept the Cyclones from getting the shutout when Immaculata notched a goal in the 84th minute.

White and junior Josh Weiss (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) tallied a game-high five shots, while freshman Eric Nugent (Dublin, Ireland / St Joseph's Secondary) recorded three shots. Junior Roger Fernandez (Succcasunna, N.J. / Roxbury) and sophomore Matt Miller (Clifton, N.J. / Clifton) each took two shots, while junior Devon Warne made two saves in the victory. Ricky Molz, Nick Boule, Ben Gialloreto, and Colin Gallagher each took two shots apiece for the Mighty Macs.  Mikey Kalpokas made four saves and took the loss for Immaculata.

Head Coach Keith O'Connor and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7th, hosting the Cavaliers of Cabrini University at 3:30 p.m.
