Women’s Basketball Bounces Back with Victory over Keystone



HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Jan. 18, 2017)- Led by a 16 point second half from senior Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston), the Centenary University women's basketball team bounced back with a 59-49 victory over Keystone College on Wednesday evening.

George finished with 20 points and nine rebounds for the Cyclones who improve to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Nina Hodanich finished with 13 points and six rebounds for the Giants who fall to 5-11 overall and 4-4 in the CSAC.

George totaled only four points in just nine minutes as the senior was saddled to the bench with foul trouble. Junior Julia Presant (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East) carried the load with 13 points on three made triples in the opening stanza, as the Cyclones held a tight 33-29 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Giants used a 9-0 run to take a 40-37 lead with 3:52 remaining in the third. Centenary responded with a 22-9 run over the final 13:27 of the contest, which included all 16 points from George during the run.

Presant finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while junior Nicole Cartaino (Midland Park, N.J. / Midland Park) finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Senior Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) chipped in with six rebounds, four points, four assists, and three blocks, while sophomore Amber Reisenwitz (Cresco, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) totaled six points, three rebounds, and three assists. Brittany Sugalski totaled 10 points and six rebounds for the Giants.

Head Coach Rose Haller and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 21st, hosting the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University at 2:00 p.m.
