CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2016)- Sophomore
Zoey Woody (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick) totaled 15 assists, nine digs and four aces as the Centenary University volleyball team dropped it's sixth straight match to Clarks Summit University on Wednesday evening.
Callie Kitowski finished with 17 kills, five digs and three blocks for the Defenders who improve to 5-10 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Senior
Jamie Bierbaum (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) totaled five kills and five digs for the Cyclones who fall to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in the CSAC.
CSU easily took sets one (25-10) and two (25-19), but the Cyclones fought to the bitter end in the third set (26-24). The Defenders and
Cyclones traded the advantage back and forth in set three, before Woody served for five straight points which gave Centenary their largest lead of the match at 21-15. During the run, sophomore
Giani Montalvo (Elizabeth, N.J. / Elizabeth) put down two kills and
Caroline Bikles (Glendale, N.Y. / Archbishop Molloy) added another.
Grace Evan rallied with their own five point swing as CSU tied the set back at 21-21. The Defenders closed the set and the match with three straight kills from Kitowski.
Montalvo added four kills and a block, while sophomore
Krysta Astengo (Clifton, N.J. / Clifton) finished with five digs and an ace. Alexa Wagner recorded 26 assists, while Grace Evan totaled seven digs, four kills, three aces, a block and an assist. Â

Kelsey Walter and the Cyclones will return to action in Jersey City, N.J. on Saturday, Oct. 1 in a Tri-Match against the Gothic Knights of NJCU and the Beavers of CCNY at 10:00 a.m.
