Hackettstown, NJ- It was senior night at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center, and in dominant fashion, the Cyclones defeated Notre Dame University of Maryland by the final score of 69-26. With the win, Centenary improves to 7-14 overall and an even 6-6 in conference play, while the Gators drop to 5-16 and 2-11 in the league.
Senior
Kimberly Osieja led the Cyclone offense in today's victory. After a warm pre-game ceremony, Osieja went on to lead the Cyclones scoring 14 points and two rebounds. She was 3-for-7 from the field while also going 7-for-8 from the line.
Julia Presant and
Mallory George were the other Cyclones to record at least 10 points in the win. Presant went 5-10 for 11 points and three boards while George went 3-6 for 10 points and seven rebounds.
Stephanie Roche scored more than half of Notre Dame's points as she nailed 14 in the game while making all four of her free-throws.
Once the game begun, Centenary never looked back as they went on several runs throughout the first half, and led by more than double going into the intermission at 38-17. Centenary came out in the second half and played very well defensively by only allowing Notre Dame to score nine points in the half while adding in 31 themselves.
The percentages from the field backed up the final results with Centenary shooting 39.3%, which was more than double Notre Dame's 17.4%. In the end though, this game was all about Osieja as she topped off the night by knocking in a three-ball in the second half to put away the Gators before coming off the court.
The Cyclones will be in for a tough conference matchup against second-place Immaculata University, which will be held on Monday night at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center, @ 6:00 PM as they host their annual Pink Game.
