Rosemont, PA – Centenary's
Mallory George and
Rachel Edwards combine for a total of 46 points to lead the Cyclones past Rosemont College in this afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference game, 83-59. Centenary improves to 8-14 overall and 7-6 in league play, while Rosemont drops to 11-12 on the season and 7-7 in the CSAC.
In what started to be a back and forth type of game, Centenary took the lead at the 16 minute mark (7-6) and never looked back.
Midway through the first half, the Cyclones broke the game open with a 24-9 run for their largest lead of the half (35-19). Centenary would head into the break up by 14, (38-24).
Centenary held the Ravens to just 24 percent shooting from the floor and netted 17 points of their 14 first half turnovers.
After the break, three Cyclones posted double digits as Centenary shot over 50 percent from the field and 84 percent from the line as a team.
Behind Edwards's 15 second half points, the Cyclones created a 20-point deficit midway through the second half. The Ravens were unable to recover as Centenary continued to make shots to maintain the advantage.
Edwards led all scorers for a career high 24 points shooting 9-of-16 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from the stripe. George nabbed her 10
th double-double of the season scoring 22 points shooting 8-for-18 from the floor and grabbing 12 rebounds, while also dishing out six assists.
Melissa Rabe added 14 points shooting 6-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line, while
Ally Fugnitti added eight points and dished out five assists.
Alexis Wilson and
Nicole Cartaino each contributed seven points respectively.
Centenary returns home to host Marywood University Monday February 16
th @ 7pm as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.
