George Posts Career Afternoon as Women’s Basketball Records Victory in Consolation Game


NEW YORK, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2015)- Junior Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) posted a career-high 29 points and a season-high 17 rebounds as the Centenary College women's basketball team took the consolation game at the Hunter College Tip-Off Tournament with a 73-57 victory over the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College.

Junior Heather Yaros (Hopatcong, N.J. / Hopatcong) added 10 points and four rebounds to help the Cyclones improve to 2-2 overall. Michelle Lupoli paced St Joseph's with 19 points as the Golden Eagles fall to 1-3 overall.

Centenary edged St. Joseph's in points off turnovers (25-18), second chance points (15-7), bench points (27-5), points in the paint (42-18) and fast break points (6-0). The Cyclones dominated the defensive end as they recorded a season-high 18 team steals.  

Centenary trailed 5-2 early in the first quarter, but the Cyclones recovered and didn't look back as they cruised to the 16 point victory.

Senior Ally Fugnitti (Wood-Ridge, N.J. / Wood-Ridge) finished with six points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists, while sophomore Rachel Edwards (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) totaled five points and five steals. Sophomore Nicole Cartaino (Midland Park, N.J. / Midland Park) finished with nine points and five rebounds, while fellow classmate Amber Reisenwitz (Cresco, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) totaled eight points and three steals.  

George was named to the All-Tournament Team as she totaled 45 points, 26 rebounds and shot 59.2% from the floor as the Cyclones went 1-1 this weekend.

Head Coach Andrea Kendall and the Cyclones will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24th, hosting the Shock of Washington Adventist University at 7:00 p.m.
