Four Score in Double Digits as Centenary Rolls Past Cedar Crest

Hackettstown, NJ- Centenary College eases by Cedar Crest College at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center on Wednesday night as the Cyclones won their second consecutive conference game by a final of 77-38.  With the win, Centenary improves to 5-13 overall and 4-5 in league play, while Cedar Crest drops to 3-13 and 2-6 in the CSAC. 
 
The first half was played fairly evenly with the score only 33-21 in the Cyclones favor going into the second half after a brief 7-0 run at the 11:59 mark. However, Centenary blew it open in the second half going on a 22-2 run over the course of an eight minute span.
 
Mallory George and Melissa Rabe led the attack for the Cyclones. They both almost had double-double's in the game as George shot 7-of-10 form the field for 18 points and nine rebounds, while Melissa Rabe shot 5-of-8 from the floor for 10 points and nine rebounds.
 
Rachel Edwards knocked in 11 points for the Cyclones going 5-11 from the field while adding in one rebound. Julia Present added 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field.
 
Heather Yaros netted eight points and grabbed two rebounds while Ally Fugnitti rounded out Centenary's top scorers garnering seven points and three rebounds.
 
Meghan Gregory and Breonna Lewis kept Cedar Crest in the game early as they each collected 10 points in the contest. Gregory grabbed four rebounds while Lewis had seven, which led the team.
 
With the score 55-25 after the 22-2 run, the teams traded baskets for a bit before Centenary went on a short 10-0 run. The run just about put away Cedar Crest as they trailed by 41 with 3:44 to play.
 
Bench points turned into a big factor in the game with Centenary having a 26-7 advantage. Centenary held a 12% lead in shooting after the first half. That margin grew to over 27% by games end with Centenary shooting an impressive 52.4% in the second half.
 
The Cyclones next contest will be on the road as they will travel to Cairn University in Langhorne, Pa, tipoff will be @ 7:00 PM on Saturday night.
