Langhorne, PA – The Centenary women's basketball team made it three straight wins as they defeated Cairn University, 84-30. With the win, the Cyclones improve to 6-13 overall and 5-5 in CSAC play, while Cairn University drops to 2-13 and 0-9 in conference.
It was a collective effort for the Cyclones as everyone was able to get on the scoreboard in tonight's win. Cairn opened the scoring as Amie Eppolito, who led all scorers with 20 points, dropped her first of five three pointers in the game to give the Highlanders a 3-0 lead. However, the Cyclones quickly responded with a 26-0 run and amassed a 23 point lead (26-3) midway through the first half.
Centenary continued to control the offensive end shooting over 50% from the floor and held the Highlanders to 21% (4-of-19). The Cyclones pushed ahead and went into the break with a commanding 46-11 lead.
Still in control in the second half, the Cyclones improved their shooting to 60% from the field shooting 8-of-30 to put the game out of reach for the Highlanders.
Sophomore forward,
Mallory George netted a team-high 14 points shooting 7-of-9 from the floor to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
Melissa Rabe,
Nicole Cartaino,
Heather Yaros and
Julia Presant each scored ten points and brought down a combined 17 rebounds.
Ally Fugnitti chipped seven points and three assists, while
Angela Randle and
Rachel Edwards each added six points. Point guards,
Amber Reisenwitz tacked on five points and
Alexis Wilson put in four points while dishing out three assists.
Taylor Pryslak rounded out the scorers with two points and a steal in tonight's conference win.
The Cyclones look to keep this momentum going as they face Immaculata University on Monday February 2
nd @ 6pm, while hosting the annual Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness.
