George's Career-High 26 Not Enough Against Neumann University

Aston, PA - Sophomore forward, Mallory George drops a career-high 26 points as the Cyclones fall short against Neumann University 67-60 in tonight's Colonial States Athletic Conference game.  With the loss, Centenary falls to 6-14 overall and 5-6 in conference play, while the Knights improve to 10-10 and 7-4 in the CSAC.

Centenary jumped out to an early 10-2 lead and maintained the lead throughout most of the first half.  Neumann however, would chip away and eventually took a 20-19 lead after Jessica Schlesman sank a three pointer for their first advantage of the game. 

A 10-2 run by the Knights, would give them their largest lead (28-21) of the first half before the Cyclones would bounce right back with an 11-0 run to regain the upper hand (28-32).  The knights would score five straight points to head into the break 33-32.

In the second half, Centenary came out strong offensively creating an eight point gap by (47-39) by the 12:27 mark before the Knights crept their way back into the game with an 8-0 run to knot the score  for the fourth time at (47-47). 

Down 63-58 with 3:22 left to go in regulation, the Cyclones cut the deficit to get within three points (63-60) with 1:34 but could not break the threshold as Neumann held on by sinking their free throws down the stretch.

George led all scorers with a game-high 26 points shooting 10-for-18 from the floor and 16 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.  Junior guard, Ally Fugnitti added 12 points shooting 5-for-7 from the field and dished out five assists.  Rachel Edwards chipped in seven points, while Alexis Wilson knocked in six in the loss.

The Knights were led by Schlesman who finished the night with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Alex Fernandez chipped in 19 points. 

Centenary will welcome Notre Dame University of Maryland Saturday February 7th @ 2pm as we host our Annual Take a Kid to a Game Day and celebrate Senior Day.
