Eileen Day was a five-sport athlete at Centenary, competing for the badminton, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and swimming (synchronized and water ballet) teams from 1972-75. A two-time honoree by the New Atlantic All-College Field Hockey Association, she guided the field hockey team to a perfect 8-0 season in 1973. During the same year, Day led the badminton team to a Metropolitan Badminton Association New Women’s C League championship, earning the Women’s Athletic Association Outstanding Badminton Player Award. She also teamed with Margaret Mullin to claim the Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament doubles title.

As president and co-captain of the Aquadelphian’s swimming team, Day was selected as the most outstanding swimmer in 1974. She also captained the basketball team, leading the Cyclones in scoring during her senior season.

In addition to athletics, Day was also active on campus with the school yearbook. While serving as the sports editor of The Hack, she won four national awards for her innovative concepts, art, photography and design.

Day earned her associate’s degree from Centenary in 1973 and her bachelor’s degree in 1975. During the senior awards ceremony in 1973, she was honored with the school’s Allen Physical Education Award.
