Hackettstown, N.J.: The Centenaty University men's basketball team battled hard on Saturday afternoon at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center, but the Marymount Saints pulled away in the second half to secure a 62–55 Atlantic East Conference Victory.
After a competitive first half, the Cyclones trailed 25–20 at the break. Centenary stayed within striking distance through the second half, fueled by strong play from its backcourt and timely defensive stops. Despite their efforts, Marymount's balanced scoring and late-game runs proved decisive.
Senior Justin Carbone led the Cyclones with 17 points, including three three-pointers on 6-of-14 shooting. Devin Strickland added 13 points, while Kenneth Rankin contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint. Naire Preston chipped in 11 points and knocked down two triples, keeping the Cyclones close throughout the contest.
Centenary struggled from the field, shooting 37% overall and connecting on 57.1% of free throws, but the Cyclones showed grit and determination, forcing Marymount into contested shots and staying aggressive on the boards. Marymount, meanwhile, shot 45.2% from the floor, ultimately giving the Saints the edge in a tightly contested matchup.
Despite the loss, Centenary demonstrated resilience and team effort, with contributions across the roster. The Cyclones will now turn their focus to their next Atlantic East game, looking to build consistency on offense and tighten up defensive execution.
