Hackettstown, N.J.: The Centenary University men's basketball team pulled out a hard-fought 80–76 Atlantic East Conference victory over Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center. The Cyclones (5–10, 3–1 AEC) battled through multiple lead changes and made key plays down the stretch to secure the win in front of a home crowd.
Centenary trailed by eighteen points early but rallied behind an efficient offense and stout defense to tie the game and eventually take control. The Cyclones used balanced scoring and aggressive rebounding to stay in front in a game that featured nine lead changes and plenty of momentum swings. Centenary shot 47.1% from the field and made timely baskets in the second half to edge past the visiting Mighty Macs.
Junior guard Kenneth Rankin led the Cyclones with a stellar 27 points, going 10-for-14 from the floor and hitting clutch free throws late in the contest. Senior Devin Strickland added 18 points on solid shooting, while Naire Preston chipped in 15 points, including three three-pointers to help spread the floor. Justin Carbone contributed 13 points, and Jasir Lane brought toughness on the glass with 15 rebounds. The Cyclones played with poise down the stretch, making key stops and controlling the paint en route to the conference victory.
Centenary's win keeps momentum strong as the Cyclones continue Atlantic East play and look to build on their 3-1 start in the conference.
