Cedar Falls, IA: The Cyclones suffer two losses on the second day of the NWCA National Duals. The Clones were defeated by Concordia-Moorhead (25-17), and Adrian College (38-16).
On the Mat
Familiar faces would find success on the mat for the Cyclones, picking up wins on day two of the National Duals. Their first match of the day would come against Concordia Moorhead, where four Clones would pick up a win in the match.
Jack Thode (F, 1:49),
Danny Haws (Dec, 6-1),
Xavier Pena (TF, 17-0), and
TJ Pawlicki (Dec, 12-6) each found success. In the second match, the Cyclones would only have three Clones win their match. Winning for the Cyclones were
Danny Haws (F, 5:16), Joseph Innamorato (F, 6:21), and
Xavier Pena (Maj, 13-2). Pena, and Haws posted a perfect 4-0 record, while Thode finished the weekend 3-1.
Xavier Pena - 100th Career Win
Xavier Pena joins elite company for the Cyclones wrestling program, as he marks only the third Clone to record one-hundred career wins in program history. Following the weekend Coach
John Garriques stated:
"Xavier is a poster child of the type of athletes that we want here at Centenary. He is involved in his community, was an Academic All-American and is as dedicated as anyone to the team and the sport. Im extremely proud of Xavier for achieving this amazing accolade."
