Baseball Swept By Roanoke

Salem, VA: After an eventful first game in the series, the Cyclones would be unable to carry that momentum into the double header as they were swept by Roanoke. The Cyclones would fall, 5-3 in game one and 17-3 in the series finale. The Clones now sit at 4-5 on the season.

Game One

In game one, the team batted eight for twenty seven leaving nine runners on base. The offense batted in all three of their runs, walked three times, and struck-out seven times. Defensively, the Cyclones recorded eighteen putouts. Starting for the Cyclones was First Year pitcher, Anthony Spungin who threw just two-thirds of an inning. Anthony DiGrande would come in with two outs in the bottom of the first inning and toss three and two-thirds, allowing just two hits and zero runs. Game Two

In the second game of the double header, the Cyclones hitters batted five for twenty-two striking out just twice throughout the seven innings of play. The Cyclones would go on to draw two walks, record three runs batted in, and steal three bases. Making his second career start for the Cyclones was First Year pitcher, Joseph Frei. Frei would throw just one inning for the Cyclones allowing five hits and five runs. Behind the pitcher, the Clones defense would record eighteen  putouts and commit two errors.
