Women's Basketball Pulls Out Close Win Against Bryn Athyn

Hackettstown, NJ: The Cyclones hosted the Lions of Bryn Athyn College, where they would go on to extend their winning streak to four games following their 71-64 win. The Clones record improved to 9-3 on the season as they look to close out 2024 on a high note.

Inside the Box Score

In the opening quarter, the Cyclones held all of the momentum as they went on a 22-6 run in the first ten minutes of action. The Clones shot just under seventy percent from the floor, as they went nine for thirteen shooting during their impressive first quarter. Despite being out scored in the second and third quarters, the Clones entered the final ten minutes of play with a 44-39 lead over the Lions. The final quarter featured a lot of scoring as both teams combined for fifty-two points. In the closing minutes of the contest, the lead changed twice with the game coming down to the wire. The Clones would ultimately pull through for the victory following clutch three pointers and free throws to ice the contest. As a team, the Cyclones offense posted twenty-two points in the paint, eleven points in transition, and seventeen assists as a team. On the defensive end, The Cyclones recorded eight steals, two blocks, and forced sixteen turnovers which led to twenty-four points being scored off Lions turnovers.  


Game Standouts

The Cyclones offense was led by Vatijah Davis, with thirty-one points in thirty-five minutes of action. Davis did an excellent job of getting to the free throw line, missing just two of her fourteen attempts. On the glass, Davis came down with a total of twelve rebounds on the day. Davis would also go on to post three assists, two steals, and one block.

Brie Opdyke also had a stellar game after battling an illness. Opdyke recorded a team second best twenty-two points in the win, while also posting three assists. On the defensive end, Opdyke came away from the contest with two steals.
