Clutch Free Throws Extend Women's Basketball Streak

La Plume, PA: The Cyclones pull out a close win against Keystone, to win the Keystone Tip-Off Tournament and remain unbeaten. The contest ended with a tie in regulation and went into an overtime period, where the Cyclones would finish the game with a 62-59 score.

Inside the Box Score

The Cyclones would start off the contest strong shooting 53.85% in the first quarter, but would find themselves facing an eleven point deficit at halftime after struggling offensively in the second quarter. Coming out of the second half, the Cyclones would dominate the Giants holding them to just five points in the third quarter. The Clones had the opportunity to end the contest in regulation, but a missed free throw in the closing seconds by the Cyclones would force an overtime period. The Cyclones would gain a lead in OT, and did not look back despite the score being tied at fifty-seven. Centenary would once again find themselves at the charity stripe to conclude the game, and went a perfect two for two, to close out the contest. Over half of the Clones points were scored in the paint, with a total of thirty-four being scored down low. 

Game Standouts

Picking up where they left off last season is sophomore, Vatijah Davis. One of the Country's best in double - doubles during the 2023-24 season, has recorded her third consecutive double-double this season. Davis wrapped up the contest with 18 PTS, 15 REB, 1 AST, 2 BLK, 3 STL.

Brie Opdyke, went on to knock down the game-winning free throw's after a dominant performance. Opdyke concluded the game with 16 PTS, 5 REB, 1 STL, and did a great job of facilitating as she recorded six assists.

Sofia Mendez would record double digit points in the contest for the first time this season. Mendez shot 6-8 from the floor putting her at 12 PTS for the contest, while also adding 3 REB, 1 BLK, and 1 STL to her stat line.
