HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Graduate student
Jon Fleck broke the school record for career doubles with his 46th but it was not enough as the Centenary University baseball team fell to Drew University, 7-6 in 10 innings on Thursday afternoon.
Fleck led off the seventh inning with is 12th double of the season and 46th of his career. That broke
Michael Fasano's (2007-10) previous record of 45.
Drew put a run on the board in the top of the first for the early lead.
Centenary responded with an RBI single from Fleck in the first to tie the game. Senior
Nicholas Gattuso's RBI base knock in the second extended the Centenary lead to 2-1.
A pair of runs in the third gave Drew a 3-2 edge in the game.
Centenary found the answer in the fourth as junior
Chris Hess ripped an RBI double down the right field line to tie the game. The Cyclones took a 4-3 lead in that frame as Gattuso drove in his second run of the game.
Centenary added to its lead in the fifth as freshman

Anthony Vassallo launched back-to-back solo home runs. The Cyclones took a 6-3 lead through five innings.
Drew was able to get to the Cyclones' bullpen for three runs in the top of the eighth and tied the game at 6-6.
Cole Bosch walked to force in a run in the inning and later came around to score on
K.J. Hallgren's RBI single.
Centenary had a runner reach in the eighth and ninth but could not bring either one home and the game went to extra innings.
Drew got a lead off triple from Bosch to start the 10th and he touched the plate on
Anthony Diaz's RBI single.
The Cyclones got a runner on in the bottom of the 10th, but he was stranded at third as Drew claimed the 7-6 victory.
Dominic Goodenough earned the win for Drew as he went four innings in relief and allowed just three hits.
Teddy Hoxie got the save as he pitched a scoreless 10th inning.
Matt Oehrlein took the loss as he went the final three and gave up one run on four hits.
Bosch was 2-for-4 with four runs scored for Drew while Hallgren had four hits and two RBIs.
Fleck had two hits and an RBI for the Cyclones while senior
Paul Links added two hits and a run scored. Gattuso contributed two hits and two RBIs while Vassallo finished with one hit and three runs scored.
Centenary returns to action tomorrow when it hosts St. Joseph's Brooklyn in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
