Late Rally Gives Baseball A Split With Marywood

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Pinch-runner CJ White scored with one out in the bottom of the 10th in game-two to help the Centenary University baseball team earn a split of it's doubleheader with Marywood in Atlantic East action on Saturday.

Marywood put six on the board in the top of the seventh to secure a 7-0 win in game one. Centenary trailed 8-4 going to the bottom of the ninth in game two before rallying for the 9-8 extra inning victory.

Game One Recap (Marywood Won 7-0):
Both teams had their chances but were unable to break through in the first three innings of this one.

Marywood finally put one on the board in the top of the fourth as Ben Gravel singled home Kyle Morin.

Centenary's best chance came in the bottom of the sixth as Jon Fleck roped a one-out double but he was stranded at third.

Marywood broke things open with six runs in the top of the seventh. Big blows in the inning came from Jake Schuster, who had a two-run home run and Quinton Roma, who had a two-run double.

Nick Notari tossed a complete game to earn the win for Marywood. He gave up no runs on six hits and struck out three. Zach Gehman suffered the loss after giving up one run on three hits and struck out six in 5.2 innings of action.

Schuster and Roma each had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored for the Pacers.

Game Two Recap (Centenary won 9-8 in 10):
Marywood put single runs on the board in the first, third and fourth innings to build a 3-0 lead in game two.

Centenary got one back in the bottom of the fourth as Nicholas Grifone lifted a sac fly to center that scored Paul Links.

The Cyclones tied the game at 3-3 with a pair of runs in the fifth. Cole Heitzman scored on a passed ball and Anthony Vassallo crossed the dish on a groundout from Links.

Centenary grabbed a 4-3 lead in the seventh as Nick Payne scored on an error.

Marywood scored one in the eighth and four in the ninth and took an 8-4 lead in the contest.

Down to their final at-bat, the Cyclones found a way to rally. With runners on second and third and one out, Links poked a single to left that scored both runners and made it an 8-6 game. After Marywood got the second out of the inning, Nicholas Gattuso drove a ball just inside the foul pole in left field for his first career home run. Gattuso's round tripper tied the game at 8-8.
