HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University field hockey team won the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Team Academic Award for having the highest team GPA among all the field hockey squads in the conference for the fall 2021 semester.
Head coach
Stephen Speirs' squad posted a 3.360 GPA for the fall 2021 semester. Eleven players had a GPA of 3.00 or better for the fall semester and of that group, seven had a GPA of 3.5 or better.
"I would like to congratulate our Centenary Field Hockey team for receiving the CSAC Team Academic Award," said Speirs. "I am so proud and impressed with their academic and athletic achievements. Their dedication to education and Division III sports should be an inspiration to all students, athletes and coaches."
Established prior to the start of the 2013-14 academic year, the CSAC Team Academic Award is given annually to each sports team whose student-athletes, while competing in conference-sponsored sports, achieve the highest combined grade point average. Grade point average calculations correspond with the student-athletes' season of participation during the sport's traditional season. The 2021 Fall Team Academic Awards are based on each team's combined GPA from the Fall 2021 semester only.
