Second Half Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Over Marymount on Senior Day

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore Harison Samayoa Lopez's goal in the 78th minute helped the Centenary University men's soccer team earn a hard-fought 1-0 win over Marymount University in Atlantic East play on Saturday.

Prior to the game, the Cyclones honored seniors Michael Nolfi, Peter Diaz, Devin LeBel, Julian Lippner and Mathias O'Neil for their contributions to the program.

Marymount applied the pressure early on forcing freshman keeper Brandon Parra to make three saves in the first 20 minutes of the game.

The two teams battled through the first 45 minutes but went into the half tied at 0-0.

The Cyclones and Saints continued to trade shots on each end of the field until the 77:08 mark as Samayoa Lopez settled a pass from sophomore Matt Paterno and knocked it home.

Marymount continued to push putting three more shots on goal down the stretch, but Parra had the answer for two of them and his defense helped him out keeping another one out.

Centenary was able to hold on and claim the 1-0 victory.

Parra made his first career start for the Cyclones and responded in a big way with seven saves for his first career shutout. Baryron Banegas made three saves in the loss.

Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when it hosts Cabrini at 3 p.m.
