Doyle Scores as Field Hockey Falls to Neumann

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior Keirra Doyle scored to lead the Centenary University field hockey team in a hard fought 4-1 loss to Neumann University on Wednesday afternoon.

Goals by Rachel Koerner and Lexi Stouffer allowed the Neumann to jump out to a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes of play.

The Cyclones tried to push the tempo but it was the Knights that scored the only goal of the second period. Kylie Fitchett's goal at 23:13 allowed the visitors to take a 3-0 lead at the break.

Emma Cahill made three first half saves in goal for the Cyclones while Emily Hotz added a defensive save.

Doyle got Centenary on the board just into the third quarter with her third goal of the year.

Neumann got another goal from Fitchett in the fourth quarter and claimed the 4-1 victory.

Megan Frame started the game in goal for Neumann and made one save to earn the win. Ava Irwin played the fourth quarter in cage for the Knights and was not forced to make a save.

Cahill made three first half saves for the Cyclones. Jenyfer Pereira made four saves in the second half relief work.

Centenary's game at Notre Dame (Md.) scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25 has been postponed. The Cyclones have added a game against Hood on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at home.
