Field Hockey Falls at Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. – Junior Jenyfer Pereira made nine saves but it was not enough as the Centenary University field hockey team fell at Keystone College, 5-0 on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

The Giants struck twice in the game's opening 15 minutes for a 2-0 advantage. Victoria Mainero had the second goal for Keystone.

Pereira made three saves in the second period but Mainero's second of the day sent Keystone into the halftime break with a 3-0 advantage.

The Centenary defense was busy early in the third. Graduate student Victoria Abucewicz made a defensive save and Pereira added four of her own.

However, Julianna Santiago found the back of the net and Keystone took a 4-0 lead after three periods of play.

Keystone added one more goal in the fourth for a 5-0 victory.

Casey Stratton made one save to earn the win in goal for Keystone. For Pereira it was the fifth time this season she has made nine or more saves in a game.

The Cyclones conclude the 2021 season on Saturday, Oct. 30 as they host Cedar Crest at 11 a.m.
