Field Hockey Battles Lancaster Bible But Falls Short on Senior Day

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior Keirra Doyle registered a defensive save but it was not enough as the Centenary University field hockey team fell to Lancaster Bible College, 2-0 on Saturday morning in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

The Cyclones honored seniors Christine Manser, Danika Brandt and Doyle prior to the game. The Cyclones were all wearing pink and playing with pink balls in the game to recognize breast cancer awareness month.

Both teams had their chances early in the first period. It was the Chargers who broke through at the 12:37 mark as Rylee Hannon scored off a pass from Molly Gray.

Lancaster Bible added to its lead early in the second period as Gray scored at 22:31.

Doyle picked up her defensive save and Jenyfer Pereira made two stops down the stretch to keep it a 2-0 game at the half.

Both teams had their chances in the third period but neither could find the back of the net and Lancaster Bible maintained its 2-0 advantage.

Sophomore Victoria Schirripa got off a shot on goal in the fourth but Alexis Garrett was able to turn it away as Lancaster Bible claimed the win.

Garrett made three saves to earn the win in goal. Pereira finished with three saves for the Cyclones as well.

Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 27 when it travels to Keystone.
