Strong First Period Helps Wilson Defeat Field Hockey

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – A strong first period helped Wilson College earn an 8-0 victory over the Centenary University field hockey team on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

Wilson scored five times in the first 15 minutes of the contest. Michaela Singer struck for three goals in that stanza.

The Phoenix added a goal in the second and took a 6-0 lead at the half.

Both teams battled hard in what proved to be a scoreless third period. Victoria Abucewicz led a strong effort by the Cyclones to keep Wilson off the board.

The Phoenix tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter for an 8-0 win.

Four goalkeepers saw time for Wilson in the contest and did not need to make a save. Jenyfer Pereira had seven saves for the Cyclones.

Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 20 when it travels to Notre Dame for a 4 p.m. game.
