Vandermark Scores as Field Hockey Stumbles at Sage

ALBANY, N.Y. – Freshman Jordan Vandermark scored her third goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the Centenary University field hockey team fell at the Sage Colleges on Wednesday night by a 7-1 margin.

Sage jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Jenna Egan at 3:51.

The home team added to its lead at 17:38 as Mia Unverzagt poked one into the net.

Centenary got on the board and pulled to within one as Vandermark scored off a pass from sophomore Keirra Doyle at 19:35.

The Gators carried that 2-1 advantage into the half as freshman Sydnie Bogan made seven first half saves for the Cyclones.

A pair of third quarter goals from Sara O'Connor helped the home team open up a 5-1 lead with 15 minutes to play.

The Gators tacked on two more fourth quarter goals en route to the 7-1 win.

Abigayle Greier made four saves to earn the win in goal for the Gators. In addition to Bogan's seven first half saves, the Cyclones got a save each from freshmen Emma Cahill and Jenyfer Pereira.

The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 when they travel to Stevenson for a 4 p.m. game.
